What Is Intensive Physical Therapy?

Beginning Steps Therapy's intensive physical therapy program is customized to fit the needs of each child.  Our program is a 3 week session based on the child's individual needs consisting of 3 hours a day, 5 days per week, of intensive physical therapy in one-on-one treatment with a physical therapist trained in the TheraSuit Method.  Treatment duration may vary pending on the child's needs and therapist recommendations.

What Is The TheraSuit Method?

The TheraSuit Method is a structured program that enhances the functional development of each child.  It combines the most effective elements of various treatment techniques and has a sound rationale based on the physiology of exercise.

The TheraSuit Method combats the effects of deconditioning and immobilization often present in children with movement disorders.  It utilizes the key element of a strengthening program established for the child based on their individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses.

Goals of The TheraSuit Method

  • Normalize muscle tone

  • Increase active range of motion

  • Increase strength and endurance

  • Establish control over newly strengthened muscle groups allowing patients to improve their functional skills working toward independence
